SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

PNACF Nursing Award and Scholarship Guidelines

Purpose:

This is to establish guidelines when screening applicants for the PNA-CF Nursing Award and Scholarship. The purpose of the award is to encourage and provide support to members/family of members who are actively enrolled in a Nursing program, at any level. Deadlines for submission of documents are May 15th and November 15 of the current year.

Overview:
The Philippine Nurses Association of Central Florida, Inc. is offering an award or scholarship to deserving students who are pursuing a  Degree in Nursing at any level. Awards and Scholarships will be awarded every January and July of each year. Scholarships will be awarded for any identified need including tuition assistance, books, uniforms, school/laboratory supplies, transportation assistance. The award provides for a maximum of $500.00 per recipient annually.

Procedure:

The PNA-CF Nursing Award and Scholarships shall be presented to the recipients twice a year. The eligibility criteria and requirements include:

Applicants must be a current/active member or a child of a current/active member of PNA-CF one full year prior to application.
Current enrolment and or admission to an accredited Nursing Program in Florida.
For continuing students, Grade Point Average (G.P.A.) of 3.0 or better.
Active commitment to and understanding of PNA-CF and its mission, vision and values.
Recipients must actively participate in two (2) activities/events of the PNA-CF within a six month period; to a maximum of four (4) activities/events within 12 months prior to the award.
Participation to PNA-CF events must continue for two years after receiving the award. In the event that this is not observed, the award will convert into a loan and must be repaid.
The applicants must be recommended by the Awards and Scholarship Committee and approved by the Executive Board.
The awardee must submit a progress report at the end of each academic year to the Chair of the Scholarship Committee and/or PNA-CF Executive Board.
Submit a 150-word essay describing professional career goals: “Why I chose Nursing for my Profession, and how am I going to use it to improve people’s lives.”

APPLICATION PROCESS:

Complete the application form and submit the following documents:

Letter of Acceptance to an accredited nursing program.
Academic Transcript of records.
Three letters of recommendations: one from employer/supervisor, one from a faculty or advisor and one from a colleague/classmate.
RESUME
Passport Picture
Completed application Form must be typed and submitted to the Chairperson of the PNA-CF Scholarship Committee before the deadlines: May 15th & November 15th.
The Chair of the PNA-CF Scholarship Committee shall submit its decision and recommendations to the Executive Board for approval.
The Chair of the PNA-CF Awards and  Scholarship Committee shall notify the awardees of the decision of the Executive Board in writing and or via best available technology.
The awardees must be present at the PNA-CF Annual Gala Night in December to be recognized and be prepared to address the audience about how the award or scholarship helped the awardee.
